Created in 1987 and placed under the authority of the Ministry of Tourism, Maison de la France is a G.I.E [an association for developing commercial interests] responsible for the promotion of France as a holiday destination, within the country itself and abroad. It expresses the idea of partnership between the State, regional groups, stakeholders in the private sector in the tourist industry and those in the larger sectors of the economy. Maison de la France supports, motivates and coordinates the efforts of its partners by: Informing the public Welcoming, advice, distributing brochures and information about France and its tourist products (100 types of brochure, representing more than 4.5 million printed items in 2005) Carrying out communication campaigns Media campaigns aimed at the general public in foreign markets, and more recently, in the French market (425 campaigns in 2005) Trade promotion Taking part in and organizing initiatives in collective trade promotion -trade shows, meetings, seminars, workshops, trade tours...
